Course Details:

Understand of Infection Prevention and Control, how it fits into the decontamination department and your role. 

You will be presented with a short presentation, followed by an assessment. 

If you achieve 80% or more, you will pass the course, and will receive a printable certificate to place in your training records.

If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident. 

Aims:

To ensure the learner understands the importance of infection prevention and control in healthcare, in decontamination and in their role. 

Objectives:

Learners will be able to;

  • Understand the importance of infection prevention and control in healthcare and how it is managed.
  • Understand the implications of HCAI.
  • Understand the importance of the Decontamination Group.
  • Understand how IPC is managed in decontamination units. 
  • Explain design principles and in decontamination units to assist with IPC.
  • Understand the importance of PPE.
  • Explain how IPC is everyone responsibility.

Learning Outcomes:

The learner understands:

  • How infection prevention and control is managed in a healthcare setting.
  • The importance of IPC for patients and healthcare workers including themselves. 
  • How IPC is managed and regulated in decontamination units.
  • That they are responsible for IPC by following local policies and procedures.
