Course Details:

This course covers the required quality checks of instruments after being washed and disinfected, to ensure it is fit for purpose for use on a patient.


You will be provided with a short presentation, followed by an assessment. 

If you achieve 80% or more, you will pass the course, and will receive a printable certificate to place in your training records.

If you do not pass, you will have the opportunity to review the content and retake the assessment when you feel confident. 

Aims:

The aim of the course is to ensure staff have a full understanding of all the required quality checks of disinfected instruments to ensure they are ready for an effective sterilization process. 

Objectives:

Learners will be able to;

  • Understand how to receive and manage a completed cycle from AWD. 
  • Understand how to manage failed loads.
  • Set up an IAP workstation and the required equipment.
  • Complete thorough quality checks and inspections on all instruments.
  • Understand how to manage any quality issues found during inspection.
  • Understand the user’s responsibilities for checking instruments.

Learning Outcomes:

The learner understands:

  • Manage a AWD load being received in the IAP area.
  • How to manage a failed load.
  • How to correctly quality check and inspect all instruments.
  • What to do if an instrument fails these quality checks.
  • The user’s responsibilities to checking the instruments pre and post use.
